David Kim joined OCERS in 2018, bringing over 20 years of experience from top Fortune 50 companies. On August 23rd, he will assume the role of Assistant CEO of External Operations, having served nearly six years as the Director of Internal Audit at OCERS. In his prior role, he gained comprehensive insights into OCERS’ processes across various departments and collaborated closely with participating employers. As the Assistant CEO of External Operations, he will oversee the Member Services, Disability, and Communications teams, ensuring that retirement and disability benefits are provided in a timely, accurate, and secure manner while maintaining effective communication with members.

Before joining OCERS, Mr. Kim was the Director of Financial Reporting at Comcast/NBCUniversal and worked as an Engagement Principal in their Internal Audit Department. His previous roles also include positions in financial planning and analysis, capital program management, business operations strategy, engineering, and internal audit at Warner Music Group and Verizon Communications.

Mr. Kim earned his Master of Business Administration with a focus on Operations Management and Finance from New York University and holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He is also a licensed Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), and Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA).
