OCERS Appoints David Kim as its Assistant CEO, External Operations

Santa Ana, CA (August 6, 2024) – The Orange County Employees Retirement System (OCERS) is pleased to announce the appointment of David Kim as its new Assistant Chief Executive Officer, External Operations (ACEOEO), effective August 23rd, succeeding the soon-to-retire Suzanne Jenike.
Mr. Kim expressed his enthusiasm for his new position, stating, “I am honored and excited to step into the role of Assistant CEO, External Operations at OCERS, building on the exceptional work of Suzanne Jenike. I look forward to collaborating with our talented team to drive continued success and make a positive impact.”
Mr. Kim has served nearly six years as the Director of Internal Audit at OCERS, where he gained comprehensive insights into the organization’s processes across various departments and collaborated closely with participating employers. Before joining OCERS, Mr. Kim was the Director of Financial Reporting at Comcast/NBCUniversal and worked as an Engagement Principal in their Internal Audit Department. His previous roles also include positions in financial planning and analysis, capital program management, business operations strategy, engineering, and internal audit at Warner Music Group and Verizon Communications.
Mr. Kim earned his Master of Business Administration with a focus on Operations Management and Finance from New York University and holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He is also a licensed Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), and Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA).
As OCERS’ Assistant CEO of External Operations, he will oversee the Member Services, Disability, and Communications teams, ensuring that retirement and disability benefits are provided in a timely, accurate, and secure manner while maintaining effective communication with members.

Ms. Suzanne Jenike’s final in-person day will be in mid-September. We extend our gratitude for her nearly 25 years of exceptional customer service to our 52,000 members and wish her all the best as she embarks on her well-earned retirement.
